Founded in 1923, Northeastern University (NEU) is a multi-disciplinary university located in Shenyang, the central city of Northeast China. The University offers 66 undergraduate programs, 181 graduate programs, and 100 doctoral programs. While still laying stress on basic sciences (Metallurgy, Material Science, Mechanical, Mining), the university has paid special attention to the development of applied sciences (Automation, Computer, Biomedical Engineering) and social science (Philosophy of Science and Technology, Management and Administration). In September 2013, there were 27,157 undergraduates, 6,289 postgraduates and 3,121 doctoral candidates.
